24 July is International Self Care Day a prompt that we should practice self care 24/7 not just when it fits our busy schedule. Today is a perfect opportunity to pause, breathe, and focus on nurturing physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Sometimes we need a reminder to fill our cup before we fill others.

Why Self Care Matters?

In our fast paced lives self care can be mistaken for indulgence but it is essential maintenance. We brush our teeth every day and keep our phones charged, our body and mind also need consistent care to function well. Self care boosts immunity, improves mental clarity, supports better sleep and helps regulate cortisol [the stress hormone]. For anyone living a vibrant and purpose filled life, it is not optional but foundational.


Everyone is an individual and we all have our own self care rituals. Listen to what relaxes and recharges your own body and mind and honour it with grace.


10 Self Care Ideas

  1. Hydrate 2 - 3 litres a day - ideally filtered

  2. Schedule some me time every day

  3. Activate your 5 senses - sight, smell, sound, touch and taste

  4. Keep a Gratitude Journal - note 3 things a day

  5. Learn and feed your mind with a growth mindset

  6. Clear your clutter in space and mind .. and social meida

  7. Go outside and wander in nature

  8. Connect with someone / a pet you care for

  9. Buy or forage flowers

  10. Do something analogue you enjoy such as reading, drawing, gardening or crafting
