The Spring Equinox occurs when the Sun crosses the Equator a when the day and night are almost equal in harmony and balance.
Our health is connected to the natural cycles of the seasons which influences our body, mind and soul. Within us we have a vital Life Force referred to as Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is the energy that flows through us and circulates our bodies pathways known as meridians which link to key organs. The body is not separate from emotion or spirit; when something feels off it’s not just physical, emotional but whole body needing holistic balance and harmony.
The Shift of the Season

As nature awakens, longer days return as the clocks change in a few days time.
Spring invites us to embrace growth and new beginnings with balance.
A Yang season and upward rising, ithis season's organs of focus are the liver which has over 500 body functions including circulation, emotional regulation and detoxification; it can regenerate in 5 months. It is paired with the gall bladder which supports digestion, breaks down fats and excretes cholesterol.
The wood element encourages us to bend and flex to changing conditions like trees in the wind. With strength in roots, grounding calms us and connects us to the Earth. This is a time of renewal, action, and movement, but also a period when emotions can intensify, particularly anger and frustration. Learning to channel this energy constructively is essential for personal growth.

Moving matters for mind, body and wellbeing. Step into the season with intentional grace and gratitude harnessing the solar energy we collected in the summer. On the day of the Equinox I practice 108 Yoga Sun Salutations at sunrise - a ritual to signal the shift of the season with the number 108 symbolizing wholeness. A way to connect with the energy of the day, it takes around 2 hours; a meditative practice to release and renew. We don't all have a few hours to spare on the Equinox - gentle walking, stretching, yoga and qi gong are good examples of movement. Find one that suits you or try something new.
